This page celebrates one of the best steam events of the year. The Great Dorset Steam Fair near Blandford Forum. My interest is the steam vehicles and engines and I have put some pictures in the album. Other interests there include horse events, military vehicles, tractor pulling, music tents, acres of stalls selling clothes, tools, vintage equipment, and much more. Plus a large fun fair, some of the rides steam driven.
The official show web site is www.gdsf.co.uk. The Steam Fair is so popular that if you Google “Dorset steam fair” you will see 190,000 sites covering the event, with many pictures of steam engines, showman’s engines, steam cranes, music and so on.
This year The Great Dorset Steam Fair starts on Wednesday 1st September, 2010 and finishes on Sunday 5th September, 2010

To get there from Bristol, head for Warminster, either via Bath and the A4 or the A37 towards Wells. At Warminster take the ringroad for Shaftesbury, and then for Blandford Forum. When you get onto the Blandford by pass you will see signs for the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
